
Esteemed Surgeon and Researcher Brings Decades of Experience to Drive Innovation in Biopharmaceuticals
(CLEVELAND, OH) – Lamassu BioTech is thrilled to announce the addition of Dr. Samir Johna, MD, MACM, FACS, FICS, to its team as a Clinical Advisor. Dr. Johna brings a wealth of experience and expertise that will be invaluable in advancing Lamassu’s mission of pioneering innovative treatments and improving patient care.
Dr. Johna is the founding director of the Arrowhead/Kaiser Permanente General Surgery Residency Program in California, a Clinical Professor of Surgery at Loma Linda University School of Medicine, and a Professor of Surgery at the Bernard Tyson Kaiser Permanente School of Medicine. He has a prolific background in research, having published over 75 peer-reviewed articles in medical journals. He has also authored three books and contributed to several medical texts.

Dr. Johna had led clinical trial studies, and chaired on the IRB of Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (Institutional Review Board). In addition to his medical and academic accomplishments, Dr. Johna is the founder and president of “Without Borders,” a non-profit organization providing free medical care worldwide.

Dr. Samir Johna was born in Abu-Ghraib, Baghdad, Iraq. In 1991, he left Iraq for Jordan and then moved to California, where he completed his general surgery residency program in 1998 and became board-certified in 2000.
In 2002, Dr. Johna received an honorary degree and was named a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He joined the teaching ranks at Loma Linda University, eventually achieving the rank of Clinical Professor of Surgery. In 2013, he completed a Master’s degree in Academic Medicine at USC.
Beyond his medical and scientific experience, Dr. Johna is a poet, having written several books of poetry in Arabic and English. His first book of Assyrian poetry was recently published in Sydney, Australia.
